God, our loving Father--didn't stop talking to His people 2,000 years ago. God sent His son Jesus to show us the Father's love, to sacrifice Himself for our sins. Jesus ascended to Heaven and sits at His Father's right hand and the Bible says "He is forever able to save the people he leads to God, because he always lives to speak to God for them."(Hebrews 7:25)

Jesus said "The Spirit shows what is true and will come and guide you into the full truth. The Spirit doesn't speak on his own. He will tell you only what he has heard from me, and he will let you know what is going to happen. The Spirit will bring glory to me by taking my message and telling it to you." (John 16:13-14)

God the Holy Spirit has been making known to us the Lord's will for our lives ever since. The ability to hear, in our spirits, what God is saying to us has never ceased. The Holy Spirit is always ready to talk to and guide us in the affairs of life. The Holy Spirit's responsibility is to lead us into truth. We can sense Him speaking to us when we pray and listen to our hearts.

The Bible says "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy." (1Corinthians 14:1) Sometimes God may want us to give a message to someone else which is called prophesying and the Bible says that everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. Biblical prophecy does not mean fortunetelling, or even foretelling future events, although this cannot be ruled out.

God wants to speak to you, and if you are one of His children because you have accepted the salvation that He offers you through the death of His son Jesus, you can learn to hear Him like many Christians do.

God, because of His love for you as His child, He has marvellous plans for you. "I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
(Jeremiah 29:11)
