Little Andy Talks with God

Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3

The First Garden

Hi there, Mr. God.
I heard 'nother Bible story, taday.
'Bout the garden ya made;
Like a big park, far away.

Teacher says it was so good
An ya made ever thing pretty.
That was a whole long time ago,
A'fore there was a city.

I dunno if they had swings an stuff,
For us kids ta play on,
Where all the animals liked each other.
But, I think it is all gone.

She told us how all the trees never died
An the grass don't need mowed,
An people wore leaves
That momma says they sewed.

I think that was really funny.
Why didn't they make dresses an pants?
What if those leaves, they sewed,
Were made from itchy plants?

Any ways, Mr. God,
Teacher read ta us, from your book.
She says ever thing was beautiful,
Any where's ya could look.

She said ya made Adam
Out'a the dirt of the garden.
We found some bones in grandpa's garden, one day.
Was that someone you was a makin'?

Teacher says ya made Eve
From out of Adam.
Was she a baby, like little sis?
I thought only mommies
Were the ones who had 'em.

Ya know what, Mr. God?
I get a'fused, sometimes.
Do ya ever get
A'fused, like me?

Then she told us,
Eve ate a apple that was bad
An she gave some ta Adam, too,
An that made ya awful sad.

So, if the apple was bad,
I thought ever thing was good.
But I guess, she didn't ask
If'n she could.

Momma says, "Ask a'fore ya
Take candy or cookies, little Andy."
If'n I'm good, then,
I can have a piece of candy.

I guess ya never told the lady
She couldn't have that apple, though.
But if your book says,
Then, daddy says it is so.

Then, they got kicked out
An then ya closed the garden gate.
I bet'cha they was awful sorry.
But, then, it was too late.

I'm sorry that they were bad
An they upset ya, Sir.
But, ya sewed new clothes for 'em
That was made from fur.

Mr. God, will ya make
A new garden, someday,
With all kinds of animals;
Where us kids can play?

But, could ya make it
Without bad apples or them 'squitoes
'Cause, Mr. God,
I don't like those.

If'n ya make a 'nother one,
I can help plant the beans an stuff.
I used ta help grandpa, on the farm,
An he said I helped a'nuff.

I can do things
If'n ya tell me to.
I would like it a lot,
If'n I could do it with you.

Well, I gotta go.
It's time for lunch.
Tell Jesus an his mommy
I love 'em a whole bunch.

Ya'll have a good day.
Bye,
From Little Andy
