BATTLING THE DEVIL!
Is that you satan? Who let you in?
There you stand with that wicked grin.
Yes, you've been here many times before.
I don't know why I didn't hear the door.
I've got my lamp all trimmed and bright.
With Jesus' help I'm ready to fight.
I knew when you left you would be back,
And try to get me “off the track.”
But, you see I'm going to "plead the blood,"
And God's great standard will stop the flood.
In myself I know I'm no match for you.
But with the Saviour's help, I'm going through.
You oft have tried to put fear in my mind,
And tell me that there's no peace to find
Often you try to give me words to say,
Against my Brother along the way.
Sometime you tempt me not to pray,
And read my Bible every day.
Well, there you are, you "old slewfoot."
I can see right now that you're up to no good.
You're well supplied with fiery darts.
I plan to quench them right from the start
I've got to keep my soul and spirit clean.
So, on my Master I will lean
He's God's own son Who came to save,
And He took the keys to death, hell, and the grave.
I'm not ignorant of your device.
Sometime you come around dressed real nice.
You try to get my guard down pretending black is white,
Then you want to fight.
Often times when you try to bind me,
I yell "old satan, get thee behind me."
Then I say the name of the One who frees us,
Our precious wonderful friend, Christ Jesus!
And then once more you'll be on your way.
But, you'll return another day.
You even come in the midnight hour,
Seeking whom you may devour.
But, I ask the Lord my soul to keep,
And to send His angels to guard me while I sleep.
Some wonderful day it all will end.
I'll be up in Heaven with family and friends.
Yes, I'll be singing in that heavenly choir,
While you’re burning in the lake of fire!
