THE GARDEN OF MY SOUL!

Today God came to enjoy the flowers,

In the garden of my soul!

He arrived quite unexpectedly.

And the joy bells began to toll!

My garden needs lots of attention!

Everything must be just right!

Each plant must be in its place,

And pleasing to the Master's sight!

Friend, quite often I must work in my garden,

Weeding out each row!

For, if I'm not very careful,

Roots of bitterness there will grow!

Old satan would love to sow,

Here and there a tare.

If I get a little lax, my Friend,

He'll catch me unaware!

I must visit my garden daily,

And water it with my tears,

And, tend each precious plant,

I've planted there over the years!

In the center of my garden,

Are beautiful flowers of praise!

Friend, as the "Rose of Sharon" passes by,

Their faces are upraised!

In another part of my garden,

Are lovely flowers of prayerl

They give off a pleasant aroma,

As my Saviour enters there!

He pauses for several moments,

Enjoying the sweet smelling savor!

Then, He smiles tenderly showing me,

I've gained His favor!

Nearby are flowers of worship,

In beautiful full bloom!

If given the utmost tender care,

They will dispel fear and gloom!

I've also sown seeds of kindness,

That will become flowers of love!

Without them I'd be undeserving,

Of a visit from God above!

"The Lily of the Valley" seems so "at home,"

In my garden of flowers!

So, I secretly wish within my heart,

He will stay for several hours!

But, He leaves very suddenly,

As He touches my eager heart!

Oh, I long for the day He will return again,

Never more to depart!

PRODIGAL COME HOME!

What are you doing in this hog pen young man?

Go back to the father’s house as fast as you can.

Your loving father has been in constant prayer,

And he’s patiently waiting to welcome you there!

Just look at you Son.

You’re the child of the King.

And you certainly weren’t expected to do such a thing,

As stray from your upbringing and break God’s law.

You’re the most pitiful sight man ever saw.

So, quickly arise now and be on your way.

‘Tis folly to consider any further delay,

Son, many prayers have gone up on your behalf.

They are ready now to kill the fatted calf!

Ah, who is that coming with great joy,

To welcome back home his wandering boy?

For sure it’s the father with a forgiving heart,

And tears of relief are beginning to start!

Ah, take off that tattered garment,

All covered with sins’s stains.

Put on a kingly robe.

There’s royalty in your veins!

Son, memories of the hog pen,

Can be left far behind,

As within father’s house,

Contentment you find!

A PAUPER BECOMES A PRINCE!

Shout it from the rooftops!
Tell it all around!
Jesus is the best Friend,
My soul has ever found!
I was lost and dying,
Sinking with no hope.
Satan had me blinded.
All I could do was grope.

Then, Jesus had pity on me,
And threw out “the old lifeline!”
And ever since that wonderful happy day,
Great joy has been mine!
The ragged garments of sin,
That I clutched around me so tight,
Were traded to Jesus,
For this new robe of white!

The heavy fetters fell off,
My hands and my feet!
My heart that was so burdened,
Now has a new beat!
Gone from my soul,
Is that terrible load of sin!
Now I have joy,
And sweet peace within!

The desires I once had,
We’re stricken from my mind!
Now each day new strength
Through the “Joy of the Lord”I find!
At the very moment,
I made Jesus my choice,
Friend, all of Heaven,
Stood to rejoice!
I, who once fed,
On “the corn husks of sin,”
Am now daily provided,
With “sweet manna” within!

Jesus anointed my eyes,
That I might see more clearly,
Truths in His word,
I now hold so dearly!
My whole conversation,
And lifestyle have changed!
My life God has taken,
And completely rearranged!
The old friends I once had,
Know me no longer.
But, now I've a Christian family,
With ties that are stronger!
Yes, I once was destitute,
And had nothing to bring.
However, now through Jesus,
I'm a child of the King!
