A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY
When Jesus took young children,
Upon His knee,
To the multitude it was plain to see,
That the "Man of Galilee,"
Was a Friend of the Family!
Jesus stopped a funeral procession one day.
Upon the funeral bier a young man lay.
Folks thereabouts had heard so many say,
"Jesus is a Friend of the Family!"
So, as Jesus reached out His hand,
Death heard the Master's command,
And the young man,
Immediately arose to stand,
Before the Friend of the Family!
Lazarus, Jesus' friend was about to die.
"Lord, come quickly,"
Was Mary and Martha's cry.
But, then several days passed by,
Without a word from the Friend of the Family.
Then, suddenly Jesus came down the road,
And stopped at Lazarus' Bethany abode!
Quickly Martha and Mary strode,
Out to meet the Friend of the Family.
Waiting momentarily for her sobbing to subside,
Martha pitifully cried,
"Had You been here,”
“My brother wouldn't have died,"
"Dear Friend of the Family!"
As Jesus proceeded to Lazarus tomb,
The mood that day was totally gloom.
But, the crowd parted to make room,
For the Friend of the Family.
Weeping as He went, Jesus walked about.
Then the multitude heard a victorious shout,
"Brother Lazarus, come on out,"
And greet the Friend of the Family!"
Friend, I was just like Lazarus.
But, I was spiritually dead.
In trespasses and sins I was over my head.
But, then one day Jesus said,
"I'm a Friend of the Family!"
So I asked Him to turn my life around.
Now with His help I'm spiritually sound!
I'll be eternally grateful for the moment I found,
This Friend of the Family!

ON THE WAY TO EMMAUS
As two of Jesus' disciples,
Were traveling to Emmaus one day,
They were joined by a stranger along the way,
Who asked them why they were looking so sad.
Then, though it caused them much pain,
They carefully tried to explain,
Their reason for feeling so bad.
"Have you ever heard of Jesus?" they said.
"He's the One who could raise the dead,"
"'Heal the deaf, and cause blind eyes to see!"
"He it was the Sanhedrin tried,"
"And His own countrymen wanted crucified."
"So Pontius Pilate ordered Him nailed to a tree."
"Then, three days ago,"
"Certain women in our company said,"
"That Jesus had risen from the dead!"
This they supposedly heard holy angels tell.
The stranger then admonished them,
For the unbelief in their heart,
As He proceeded to impart,
The prophetic scriptures concerning Christ,
Which He knew so well!
Soon they came to their journey's end.
So they asked their new found Friend,
To come in and rest for awhile.
They said, "We have food aplenty to eat!"
""Come in and have a seat!"
"You are surely tired after walking so many miles!"
Seated at the table's head,
The Stranger blessed the bread,
And to their wondrous surprise,
Jesus took His flight,
Out of their sight,
Right before their very eyes!
The two disciples quickly arose,
From where they were seated,
And went to Jerusalem,
Where they joyously repeated,
Even more proof that Jesus,
Had truly risen from the dead!
"Ah, we were so slow to learn,"
"Did not our hearts within us burn,"
The excited disciples said!

St. Luke 24:32 KJV-And they said one to another, "Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked with us by the way, and while He opened to us the scriptures?"
NICODEMUS MEETS THE MASTER!
As Nicodemus stood in the shadows,
And nervously looked around,
Attentively he listened,
For even the slightest sound!
In secret he had come to ask Jesus,
About the questions in his mind.
Somehow he knew within his heart,
The answers he would find!
Who was this man called Jesus,
From Nazareth in Galilee?
He had heard Him called Beezelbub.
But, he wondered how this could be!
This man had unstopped deaf ears,
Opened the eyes of the blind,
Brought the dead back to life,
And gave Legion back his right mind!
The multitude knew Him as a healer,
And a Provider of fishes and bread!
"He's Jeremiah, or one of the prophets,"
It was often said!
Up to now Nicodemus' knowledge of Jesus,
Was like viewing an unopen book on a shelf.
He had heard so many things.
But, now he must see for himself!
Once more he looked at the window,
Where a lamp was glowing dim.
Then, he quickly stepped inside,
Hoping no one had spotted him.
For he knew it would make interesting news,
If someone saw Jesus being visited,
By a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews!
Glancing over his shoulder,
Nicodemus took one last look at the street.
He then had second thoughts,
About whether this was a good place to meet.
Taking a few steps,
Nicodemus came to an open door!
Just inside he met the man,
He'd only seen from a distance before!
"This man looks so ordinary,"
Was the first thought crossing his mind.
"Was this the Master,"
"Who was so good and kind?"
Ah, quickly he was impressed,
And would never forget,
That he felt so at ease in Jesus presence!
It was like they had already met!
Calling Jesus "Rabbi,"
Nicodemus spoke the words so true,
"You couldn't do these miracle,"
"Except God be with You!"
Then, Jesus said, "Ye must be born again!"
"For, God sent His only Son,"
'To save this world from sin."
Having heard Jesus out,
Nicodemus believed upon His name,
And until his dying day,
He would never be the same!
